As “Joann” mentioned last week, Violet is chasing and accomplishing her dreams. She maintains a 4.0 GPA as a high school senior. She is currently taking two advanced placement classes, Spanish and Pre-Calculus. As a challenge to herself, Violet has decided to graduate with both academic and technical honors by adding Biology and Chemistry to her course load. In addition, she will also graduate with a Child Development Associate Certificate.

Last year, Violet worked in a grade school as a Kindergarten Assistant. The first part of this semester, half of Violet’s day was spent working as a pre-school teacher. During her last review, she received perfect job performance ratings from her boss. Since then, she’s begun working full time, as a pre-school teacher at the same school in addition to completing her senior year.

Originally, Violet planned to enter into Elementary Education. However, Violet recently affirmed her preference to work in Early Childhood Development instead. She realizes however that she’s only still in high school and has plenty of time to change her mind. She would rather do what she loves than make more money and be miserable.

Violet’s choice to switch gears occurred as she was astounded by the developmental differences between a two and four year old. She enjoys seeing the achievements they make in such a short amount of time. For example, seeing a two/two and a half year old’s vocabulary develop at rapid speeds astounds her, especially considering just a year prior they could not talk

Since interviewing and sharing pieces of her story these last several weeks, Violet has been accepted to her college of choice. Due to her academic achievements, the college has awarded her with a scholarship, renewable all four years.

We have no doubt that Violet will excel and we could not be more proud of her!
