Love. Respect. Community.

In 2016, Allies developed the Thrive program, which is a group specifically designed for parents and guardians of individuals who have been sexually exploited through trafficking.

The goal of Thrive is to provide training, tools, resources, and opportunities for social support and connection to improve and maintain caregivers’ mental, emotional, social, and physical well-beings.

Thrive consists of a 10-session curriculum facilitated by trained professionals  that covers a variety of topics in a safe, nonjudgmental, and confidential small group setting with other parents and caregivers.

Topics covered by the curriculum include:

  • The importance of self-care
  • Understanding your needs as a caregiver
  • Myths and facts about human trafficking

  • Recruitment tactics of traffickers
  • Recognizing high-risk behaviors in your child
  • The effects of trauma in relationships

  • How to build trust with your child
  • How to set healthy, values-based boundaries
  • Ways to build a trauma-sensitive home environment

  • Building realistic routines and expectations at home
  • The value of forgiveness for yourself and your child
  • And more…

Sessions meet once weekly in the evenings for 10-weeks and last for 90-minutes to build community, discuss the week’s topic, and share a meal. Childcare can be made available upon request.

Sessions are typically offered three times per year and are based on referrals.

In addition to the curriculum, social events are hosted throughout the year to provide continued support and opportunities for connection.
