We believe that each person has the need and desire to be loved. We model our love after the One who loved us first – Jesus. As we engage with Jesus and His love for us we can offer a selfless love that is unlike any other. Hope is provided through love – and as we both experience this love ourselves and offer it to one another we know lives will be changed. We want to be known as people of love.
This summer, the day before her 15th birthday, one of the mentees in the Allies Mentorship Program had a very special day. Ann* professed her faith in Jesus publicly through baptism. Not only was this day special for her, but also her dear friend. Over time, Ann had been sharing about her faith in Jesus with her friend, who in turn, also decided to participate in baptism that day. Ann was invited to be in the baptismal with her friend as she was baptized too!
Ann credits her mentor, Crickett, for planting the seed leading her back to Christ. While in a residential facility, Crickett took her to church on Sundays. Crickett also reminded Ann that God is always with her. He sees her comings and goings, the good and the bad.
Ann was so grateful to have Crickett with her on the day of her baptism, someone who she says is like her second mom. She knows that God loves her, and Crickett loves her and they both will always be there for her.
Ann shared that without Allies, she would not have such a great relationship with Crickett, and would not know as fully the love God has for her.
What an incredible impact, and what an honor for Allies to be part of these young ladies lives!
