As a nonprofit, dependent on volunteers and donations to exist, it can be easy to buy into a scarcity mindset that acknowledges that there are a limited number of people and dollars available for anti-trafficking work. Therefore, we must horde our resources and promote ourselves over “competing” organizations in order to succeed. This mindset is difficult to counteract in our society, but God has been calling us to the opposite – to be generous toward others in our space and to be open-handed with our resources – because in his Kingdom, there are infinite resources.
As we’ve tried to lean into this Kingdom mindset, we’ve seen some beautiful fruit come as a result. Many of you joined us for our prayer and worship night in January, where four organizations joined Allies to worship and pray for one another. As we submit to Jesus in our individual ministries, we have come to find that not only do we genuinely love one another, but we NEED each other in order to fulfill our call to love and serve those affected by trafficking and sexual exploitation.
This month, we were thrilled to move our office into a new building – right next door to two other organizations working locally in the anti-trafficking movement. As we’ve been welcomed into our new home, we’ve been reminded of the power and beauty that comes when we decide to collaborate instead of compete.
