If you’ve been in any kind of relationship for a decent amount of time, you know from experience that all relationships are full of ups and downs. The real reward and beauty in relationships comes when we experience difficult times and are able to stick it out to come out on the other side and participate in the joys as well.

We recently had a mentee hit a significant milestone – 5 years of sobriety! She invited her closest family and friends to celebrate with her at a local park and mark this anniversary with a celebration with those that have supported her along the way. What an honor it was that she invited her mentor and Allies staff to join her!
Beth, our Program Administrator, who joined our team recently, shares about receiving the invitation to join our mentee for this special occasion:

I experienced a LinkUp! (mentor/mentee gathering) for the first time in April. It was such a joy to meet our mentees and the amazing women who selflessly share their hearts with the girls! One of our mentees invited each of us, including me whom she had met for the first time, to gather at the park to celebrate her 5 years of sobriety. I was so moved that she included me in her invitation! (Unfortunately, I ended up with a sick child that day and could not join her.) Although it was devastating her mother didn’t attend, she felt loved and supported by those from Allies who were there. This is a small testament of how honoring our commitments to our mentees makes a big impact.

We are so thankful to be a part of these celebrations through our mentorship program at Allies. Our vision is to see survivors flourish to impact generations – and this young lady is certainly on her way!
