Purchased has recently announced we will be launching a Junior Leadership Board (JLB) in January 2021 as an opportunity for our mentees who have been meeting with their mentor consistently for a minimum of one year!

Violet was among the first to be asked to participate on the board. We began discussing the opportunity with Violet prior to knowing exactly what the plan would look like. From the beginning she was eager to participate.

As the logistics of the board began coming together, Violet shared that she is “so, so, so excited!” to be a part of this group. She is looking forward to being involved with other girls in helping to make decisions regarding future events and activities.

It has been Violet’s experience that faking leadership can look the same as doing it, but she would like to develop the actual skills to become a great leader. Violet is inspired to be a part of change for the future of the girls we serve in the Allies Mentorship Program. She is proud to provide a stepping stone towards progress.

The idea behind the ALLIES Junior Leadership Board (JLB) is to continue walking alongside the ALLIES Mentorship Program participants (mentees) beyond their mentoring relationship. Participants would have the opportunity to become JLB Members by invitation only after they’ve met with their mentor consistently for one year or more. The focus of the JLB is leadership– allowing junior board members to bring their ideas, expertise, and personality to the larger organization. It is the hope that participants would gain both positive adult and peer relationships, have an opportunity to continue practicing learned skills through hands-on experience, and use their own creative passion to further the mission of Purchased/Allies.
