My Life My Choice

MLMC is a national model of empowerment for girls and effective education on prevention of sexual exploitation. The curriculum is centered on the goals of changing attitudes and perceptions about the commercial sex industry, improving knowledge about sexual health and substance abuse, and increasing skills that help reduce the risk of exploitation. The curriculum includes comprehensive material on the following subjects:
  • Myths about commercial sexual exploitation
  • Awareness of recruitment tactics by pimps
  • Education about sexual health
  • Link between substance use and exploitation
  • Improving self-esteem
  • Awareness of resources and a path out of commercial sexual exploitation

Target audience: High school (or upper middle school) girls through adults who are at risk or have been sexually exploited Approximate time needed: Ten 75-minute sessions, preferably 1 sessions per week for ten consecutive weeks. Interested in hosting My Life My Choice or would like more information? Interested in becoming a My Life My Choice facilitator?

We are seeking candidates for this paid, contracted position. Please email jessica@allies-inc.org for more information or to request an application.

A facilitator must:
  • Be female, and at least 21 years of age
  • Have the physical and emotional health to interact with and care for at-risk populations
  • Have a valid Driver’s License, access to an automobile and auto insurance.
  • Have one of the following: an MSW degree, 5 years of trauma-related experience, or be a survivor of trafficking
To become a facilitator, you must:
  • Submit written application & references
  • Participate in a personal interview with Program Director
  • Agree to a background check
  • Attend My Life My Choice training in Boston
Responsibilities of facilitators:
  • Be willing and able to facilitate the 10-week program. (Approximately 5-7 hours a week including preparation & travel time; could be during business hours. This program is offered state-wide, so travel may be necessary.)
  • Strive to maintain emotional, mental, and relational stability
  • Commit to facilitating MLMC for one year (three 10-week groups).
  • Attend quarterly debriefing sessions with other MLMC facilitators
  • Communicate with Allies on a bi-weekly basis or as necessary
  • Submit all consent forms, intake sheets, pre/post-questionnaires, and other required forms to Program Director in an timely manner
  • Coordinate prayer partners and send weekly emails to prayer partners
  • Be a positive role model
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with participants
  • Seek to build a positive relationship with your partner facilitatorAbide by all of the Responsibilities and Guidelines for MLMC facilitators
  • Abide by the Allies Core Values and represent the organization with integrity
Candidates are not suitable to facilitate MLMC they:
  • Have been cited for driving under the Influence (DUI) in the last 5 years.
  • Have been involved in a crime against a vulnerable person (child, disabled adult). Those with any other past criminal record should speak with the Program Director
  • Cannot complete their commitment.
